New Mexico Hot Springs -Discover Tranquility at Riverbend Hot Spring Resort

By Casey Kaplan - June 21, 2023

Nestled along the banks of the Rio Grande in the unique town of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico lies a hidden gem of relaxation and rejuvenation – Riverbend Hot Springs Resort.

Fun Fact: The town Truth or Consequences, once named “Little Hot Springs” was re-named after the game show from the 1940s and 1950s!

Who should visit Riverbend Hot Spring Resort in Truth or Consequences, NM?

  • Do you like hot springs?
  • Do you have an RV?
  • Are you traveling through New Mexico?
  • Did you answer yes to all three of these questions?

If so, I think YOU should pull that RV (or campervan or trailer) of yours into Riverbend Hot Spring Resort the next chance you get! Just make sure you make a reservation first.

Surrounded by serene desert landscapes along the Rio Grande River and blessed with the healing waters of its natural hot springs, this enchanting (and rustic) New Mexico resort offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

My Favorite Time to Stay and Soak:

I stop at Riverbend Hot Springs Resort in New Mexico for an overnight anytime I’m traveling through the area with my teardrop trailer. I’m a sucker for clean and well-maintained hot springs and I love the bohemian vibe of the gardens. Add on the prime riverfront setting and the reasonable overnight price for an RV spot (hello $65/night Monday – Thursday with soaking privileges included) and I’m officially a regular.

My favorite time to soak is early morning, or after the sun has set and the weather has cooled. The lights that the resort cast out in the evenings on the hills across the river remind me of being in Europe. I never grow tired of it!

I also just really love soaking in the hot springs while sitting in the hammock chair and listening to the river rushing by. Watching the herons hunt on the riverbank and the White Throated Swifts perform acrobatics over the river never gets old.

Take the stairs down from the pools to dip into the refreshing Rio Grande River.

I especially recommend taking the stairs down into the Rio Grande River for a refreshing and invigorating dip in between your comfortable hot spring soaks.

Soak in the Healing Waters:

Riverbend Hot Spring Resort is renowned for its mineral-rich geothermal waters, which flow from deep beneath the Earth’s surface. Immerse yourself in the soothing warmth of the hot springs and feel the tension melt away from your body. The mineral composition of the water, including calcium, magnesium, and potassium, provides natural therapeutic benefits, soothing muscles, relieving stress, and promoting overall well-being.

Whether you choose to unwind in one of the communal pools or indulge in a private tub for an extra cost, the healing waters of Riverbend will leave you feeling refreshed and revitalized.

Unwind in Serene Surroundings:

The resort’s tranquil setting offers the perfect backdrop for relaxation. The peaceful sounds of the flowing Rio Grande River, the rustle of desert foliage, and the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains create an atmosphere of serenity and tranquility.

Find your favorite spot in the beautifully landscaped gardens, unwind on a hammock, sit in the dry sauna, or bask in the sun on the riverside patio. Allow yourself to disconnect from the outside world and fully immerse in the peaceful ambiance of Riverbend Hot Spring Resort.

Three Ways to Soak and Enjoy the Resort:

As mentioned above, we stay in the RV spaces with our teardrop trailer and receive overnight soaking passes. There are other ways to visit and soak, however.

1) RESERVE A PROPERTY PASS

Gain access to the Common Hot Springs Pools and the common areas of the resort grounds with the 1-Hour Property Pass. Available by reservation.

Cost – 1 Hour Access to Common Pools and Grounds:
  • $25: Off-Peak (Monday – Thursday) for 1 or 2 people
  • $35: Peak (Friday – Sunday) for 1 or 2 people
  • $15: Each additional person

Access to common pools and grounds is free for overnight hotel and RV guests.

2) RENT A PRIVATE POOL

Deluxe and Classic Private Pools are available to reserve via 50-minute sessions. A “Property Pass” is extra and not included with the private pool reservations.

3) RENT A ROOM OR RV SITE

Overnight guests receive unlimited access to the Common Pools and Grounds during open pool hours. I recommend this option for its great value and unlimited soaking and relaxation potential!

Riverbend Resort Rooms:

I haven’t been inside any resort rooms as I always stay in my teardrop trailer in the RV spaces, so I cannot speak to the value of the lodging accommodation. Here is some info however on the rooms from the Riverbend Resort website:

The rooms offer river or garden views. Some accommodations feature private soaking tubs for an intimate and personal hot springs experience. All rooms include private bathrooms, as well as robes and towels to use during your stay. Some rooms offer private kitchens.

RV Spaces/Lodging:

Riverbend Hot Springs Resort also offers RV parking spaces with full hookups. The RV spaces include complimentary soaking passes for up to two people for the duration of your stay. This is always my go-to option. Not only is it a great value at $65/night Monday – Thursday, but I also just love sleeping in my teardrop trailer with my own comfy bed. Having access to the beautiful garden and grounds, the pools, wifi, and the hot tea and coffee in the morning make this a perfect spot for me to park and call home for a night!

RV Space Pricing:

  • $80/1 or 2 guests on Peak Nights (Fri-Sun)
  • $65/1 or 2 guests on Off Peak nights (Mon-Thurs)
  • $30/additional person/night (up to 2 additional [4 person max])

RV Site Amenities:

  • 30 & 50 amp electric
  • Water, sewer hookups
  • Free high-speed Wi-Fi
  • Spaces across the street from the springs
  • 20’ x 50’ maximum size
  • Robes available for rent (see pricing above)

If you do stay the night, I highly recommend frequenting the Full Moon Kitchen food truck parked next to the property at 109 Austin Street, Truth or Consequences, NM.

The Full Moon Kitchen food truck serves up delicious coffee and breakfast sandwiches along with other morning favorites. Hours of operation are generally 8 AM – 1 PM, Thursday through Sunday.
