Wake Wander Repeat: Hello, Life 2.0!

Redesigned, reimagined, and still figuring it out: Living Life 2.0!

For years, we lived by rules we barely questioned, ticking all the boxes that defined a so-called “successful” traditional life.

And then one day, we paused long enough to ask the question that had been quietly stirring inside us: Is this still the life we want?

Slowly, everything we thought mattered began to fade. Money, careers, possessions, and status no longer held the same power over us. What remained was a hunger for new experiences, adventures in the wild, connections that matter, and a life stripped down to what truly counts.

So… this is us rediscovering ourselves as a couple. We are older, wiser, more seasoned, and yes, a bit achy in both body and soul. We are climbing epic mountains and stretching beyond our comfort zones most days of the week.

And now, we want to share the journey.

So why the blog…?

  1. Wanderlust. I love to travel, seek adventure, and experience new cultures. Who doesn’t?
  2. My gratitude for life, this planet, and everyone who occupies it is boundless. I hope to inspire others to chase their own epic experiences—or at the very least, offer a tiny escape through mine. Ready to climb that next fourteener with me?
  3. Connections are my jam! Sharing my adventures has led me to like-minded souls. I’ve found my people. Hello, you Crazy Cats!
  4. I enjoy writing but rarely make the time to do so. Welcome to my accountability pet project!

How we arrived here:

In 2019, our youngest daughter—let’s call her Audrey—left the nest for college. After perfecting my ugly cry face for what felt like five straight hours on the longest flight home to California from her university in Chicago, we made some bold lifestyle changes.

We started by outfitting ourselves with a NuCamp Tab400 teardrop trailer, updating our backpacking gear for the 21st century, purging decades of accumulated stuff, working remotely (and less), and ultimately selling our cherished family home of 20 years

Most importantly, we let the adventures—and the uncertainties—begin. Our new empty nest was both nothing and everything to fear, all at once.

With this blog, I hope to share our little bit of crazy, our Life 2.0, where our motto is simple: wake, WANDER, repeat, and make the most of every moment we have on this planet.

My goal is simple: inspire you to join our journey, rethink your priorities, and chase your own adventures. Maybe it’s hiking a trail you’ve never hiked, tackling your first backpacking trip, or even summiting your first fourteener.

Maybe, just maybe, you’ll be inspired to live a more active, minimalist, nature-filled life—one that values wellness, adventure, and the kind of moments that make your heart race and your mind and body proud.

If even one person reads this and thinks, “Yeah, this lifestyle could be for me,” then every late-night writing session, every bout of self-doubt, every agonized word choice will have been completely worth it.
