While I usually love the opportunity to travel back to visit family and friends (and of course to enjoy this amazing view from my sister’s couch), both of these unplanned trips this month have been under tremendously sad circumstances.💔 Take time to tell your loved ones what they mean to you. Hug them. Cherish them. Be kind to them. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, w If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be? For me it rotates between: 1) Outside… yes, hiking. But also swimming in the ocean, backpacking and rock climbing. 2) Sharing moments and making memories with my daughters. They light up my life. 3) Laughing with my girlfriends - anywhere. 4) Drinking tea 🍵 on my couch 🛋️ watching the sunrise with Alan and my pups Gizmo and Moose (current status btw). 5) Traveling anywhere new. Would you live differently if you didn’t worry a Would you live differently if you didn’t worry about how others perceived you? If so, how? 🤔 As much as I hate to say it, I would definitely mix some things up! For starters, my vanity routine would be different. Although I’ve already stopped wearing makeup most of the time, I still care way too much about the color of my hair roots, the wrinkles that highlight my age, and my slightly fuller figure these past few years. If I’m being honest, I’d also be less social at times and take more quiet time when in groups for extended periods. I feel like all too often people expect me to be “on” or my old crazy and social self because that’s the me they know, but as I’m aging I don’t always relate to that same person my friends once knew. I’ve opened up about this recently with my closest friends, but I still feel like I have to play the part with others and as much as I love and cherish my visits and chats with friends and family, it can sometimes be exhausting and draining on me too. My soul seems to crave more quiet time these days. On the plus side, with these wrinkles comes some wisdom fortunately. More and more, I’m trying to embrace accepting myself rather than focusing on being accepted by others. It’s okay to look my age. It’s okay to be crazy, goofy and to dance on tables when the music rouses and inspires me, AND… it’s also okay to need quiet and alone time. “Can you remember who you were, before the world told you who you should be?” —Charles Bukowski I think Oscar Wilde said it best… “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” I’d love to hear your thoughts and how this relates to you if you feel like sharing. Because “sunrise” is always my favorite time o Because “sunrise” is always my favorite time of day! Every morning, no matter where that morning finds me, I walk outside, look up at the sky and try to practice and find gratitude for this big beautiful world of ours. Each sunrise is a chance to start fresh. It’s a new beginning; a blank page in this chapter and I love all the possibilities they hold. An endless number of miracles and gifts can begin and exist with each sunrise and I want to be there to witness any of them that I can!
